Quarter 4 2017 Highlights

In this quarter’s survey, conducted in November 2017, we found that:
Investor sentiment among HNWs remained largely unchanged at 14.9, compared to 16.2 in the third quarter. This contrasts with the more optimistic 18.5 at the start of the year, reflecting increasing concerns about the Australian economy over the course of the year, particularly given the softening of the domestic housing market.
HNW sentiment towards property substantially declined, moving to -13.9 compared to -0.4 at the start of the year. HNW investors were more bullish in the short-term. Most respondents favoured the Asian region for their next international investment (83.4%) corresponding with favourable company reporting in the last quarter and business-friendly legislation.
HNW investors were slightly less likely to purchase new investment products or invest in new equities in the next quarter, compared to the third quarter.
Cash continues to be the most recent investment for 38.3% of HNW investors
